If you do compositing in Adobe Photoshop then you probably work with layers. If you do complex work, then you probably work with a LOT of layers. It doesn’t matter if you have 5 layers or 100 layers, if you are turning individual layers on and off to show variations of your work, there is a better way. It’s called Layer Comps. Layer Comps are also supported in InDesign CS2. So if you use them in Photoshop you’ll benefit from them in InDesign.
